John McKenty is the author of Canada Cycle & Motor: The CCM Story which traces the history of this iconic Canadian company from its founding in 1899 to defend Canada’s bicycle industry against the invasion of American competition until its eventual demise in 1983.  The company was pivotal in the revival of Junction fortunes at the turn of the century.   More info at VintageCCM

Photographer Gary Blakeley is the inventor of the Zeitag phone app which pinpoints a location on an interactive city map of Toronto and displays historical photographs nearby from forty, fifty, or a hundred years ago. WTJHS has provided Gary with several Junction archival images which can now be viewed online.

Legends of the Junction Salute Heintzman: Sunday November 20th, 3:30 PM

Coming up at Heintzman Place !

The West Toronto Junction Historical Society presents a historical talk show recreating the grand days of the Heintzman Piano Factory once on the site of Heintzman Place.  We will meet the legendary characters that created the Junction as a village, town and then a city before it joined Toronto.  See why WTJHS is one of the most innovative and exciting historical societies in the city — and meet descendants of the Heintzman family with personal memories of the piano dynasty.

Sunday, Nov 20, 3:30 pm, in the Multi-Purpose room at 60 Heintzman St. following the Heintzman Place Board of Directors Meet and Greet event.

CPR Holiday Train Junction Visit

Today, rain or shine!

The goal of the Holiday Train is
to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. At each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community.

Note New Location: 750 Runnymede Rd, in front of CP Lambton yard office, parking only in Walmart lot [Runnymede south  of St. Clair, entrance opposite Ryding Ave.]
